Notre Dame lands 4-star Class of 2017 Texas TE Brock Wright

The second time was the charm for Notre Dame in landing 4-star Cypress, Texas recruit Brock Wright on Friday.
Wright, 6’4”, 240 pounds, just finished his sophomore year for Cy-Fair High School but is already considered one of the top Class of 2017 recruits in the nation. The 6’4”, 243 pound, target pulled down 17 passes last year for 369 yards with two scores leading to offers from some of the top programs in the nation including Oklahoma, Georgia, UCLA, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, and in-state powers Texas A&M, Texas, and Baylor.
Many thought the Red Raiders had an inside track on landing Wright after his father, Len, played for Texas Tech in the 1980’s.
Notre Dame has hosted Wright on campus twice in the offseason first as a guest for Junior Day in March and then during the Irish Invasion last week.
The commitment was announced on Twitter with Wright posting, “So happy and blessed to announce that I’ve made my decision and committed to the University of Notre Dame! Go Irish.”
Wright is the second commitment to the 2017 class joining Northside Christian (St. Pete, Florida) offensive tackle Dillan Gibbons.
