Notre Dame Lands Highly Sought after 4-Star Pennsylvania 2017 LB David Adams

The Fighting Irish made a big splash with their first verbal commitment from a defensive player for the 2017 recruiting class on Sunday landing David Adams.

Notre Dame landed Adams over 30-plus offers from other programs like Baylor, Duke, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, LSU, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Florida. Penn State (Feb. 27), Pitt (Feb. 28), and Notre Dame all hosted Adams on unofficial visits with the Fighting Irish sealing the deal with a March 19 opportunity.

Adams made his announcement public via Twitter scribing, “God. Country. Notre Dame.” He also added a thank you note to his official announcement writing, “First off I would like to thank God for all the amazing opportunities he’s blessed me with. I would like to thank my family for supporting me through thick and thin. I would like to thank my coaches and teammates for making me the player I am today. I would like to thank all of my friends for the endless support. And also I would like to thank every single coach that has recruited me. I’ve made so many great relationship and couldn’t thank every coach enough. But, after a lot of consideration, I would like to announce my commitment to the UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME.”

College recruiters got into a frenzy watching Adams help Central Catholic (Pittsburgh) to a Pennsylvania state title posting a 15-1 mark in 2015. The 6’2”, 230 pound, athlete helped the Vikings on offense securing three passes for 18 yards but made his mark stopping the opposition as a linebacker. With a stat line through 11 games, and seems incomplete, Adams had a team-high 76 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.

Notre Dame now has six verbal commitments to their 2017 recruiting class having pulled two from the state of Pennsylvania, offensive tackle Joshua Lugg and Adams. The Irish also secured a verbal commitment from Avery Davis over the weekend.
