The Fighting Irish have captured the No. 2 recruiting ranking in the country per 247Sports with nine Class of 2018 commits thus far. The weekend spent with recruits has paid off securing four-stars Derrik Allen and Kalon Gervin on Monday. The latest to join the group is Tennessee offensive lineman Cole Mabry.
Mabry attracted recruiting attention in 2016 being the anchor for Brentwood High School’s line. The Bruins ran their mark to 9-5 last season with a balanced offense passing for 2,032 yards while rushing for 1,965 against 5A competition. The Bruins used Mabry at right tackle during his junior season. The 6-6, 265 pound, lineman has the speed and quickness to play either guard position capable of pulling and trapping but also has the frame to be a collegiate tackle.
Teams to extend an offer to Mabry includes Indiana, Colorado State, Cincinnati, and Memphis. Mabry posted his announcement Valentine’s Day evening:
Rivals also ranks Notre Dame’s 2018 class No. 2 in the nation with six four-star players and three three-star talents. Penn State holds the top spot with 11 total commits including one five-star and six four-star players.
