Over the past two seasons, Martin Keeley has been a one-man highlight reel for Durante High School making plays as a ball-hawking safety and as a dangerous receiver. Over the offseason, a change in venues for Keeley (6-0, 180) has placed him at national powerhouse Centennial (Corona, CA) prepping him for another big season in another big spotlight. As the spring evaluation period for Class of 2019 recruits heats up, Keeley has made the rounds along the west coast visiting Utah, BYU, UNLV, Arizona, and Arizona State, among others. The “get-to-know you” round of unofficial visits to top programs coupled with his offer from Nevada has Keeley propped up to be one of the big rising stars on the recruiting trail all the way to National Signing Day.
In a Recruiting News Guru catch-up interview, I sat down for a quick one-on-one with the three-star talent covering his workouts with Centennial and his busy recruiting visit schedule.

Interview
Martin, how are the workouts going with Centennial?
“Oh man. They are going well. We are doing a lot of high-tempo work. We are doing a lot of mental work to get ready for next season and to help us get ready for the next level. Our practices are 100 miles per hour, everything is going fast.”
When did the Huskies start spring ball?
“We just started spring ball this week.”
When we last spoke, I believe you were in the process of making the move from safety to corner, how is that going?
“They’ve been using me at safety and nickel. It took a minute to adjust. I had to get used to the fast temp/no-huddle. The first week was hard. It has started to come together. It has been a process. I have the whole summer to adjust to the calls and our coverages, but everything is going really well.”
What’s the goal for you this spring with the Huskies?
“To do what I usually do, make a lot of plays and make the team and coaches proud. I’m getting ready for the showcase. I want to be one of the best safeties in my class.”
When is the Spring Showcase for the Huskies?
“Our showcase is on May 10.”
New interest is always coming in for you, which schools are showing interest in you now?
“Arizona is showing a lot of interest right now. Utah, Oregon State is showing a lot of love – they send me stuff and check in on how I am doing. Those are the main schools right now.”
You visited Arizona last weekend, how did the overall visit go?
“It went well. It was hot. I like Arizona a lot. They love my film. They are coming to our showcase in May. They said they would talk more about recruiting to me then and talk about going back to Arizona for a visit this season then.”
You also visited Arizona State, how did that go for you?
“I liked Arizona State too. I liked their facilities. Their coaching staff was great. The players are focused and ready for the year. You can tell they are ready for the season.”
Other than Arizona and Arizona State, have you taken any other unofficial visits lately?
“I have visited BYU, Utah, Dixie State, Idaho State, and UNLV.”
How did the visit with Utah go?
“It went really well. I may not like the cold weather, but I do like that school. The coaches know what they are talking about. They have a plan. How they practice and their focus, I can see them winning a Pac-12 championship this year.”
What all did you do during your visit with Utah?
“They let us meet the players and talk to them – ask questions about the program. The players talked to us about the adjustment to the environment. The talk was motivating and helpful.”
Do you have any upcoming visits planned?
“I am probably going to UCLA in a couple of weeks since I missed visiting there on Saturday. On May 20, I am visiting San Diego State.”
What has you excited about visiting SDSU?
“I am excited to see the school and see how the players work. I am excited to see some of my old Ground Zero teammates. I’m excited to see how they are doing in college and ask them a bunch of questions.”
Is there any update to your college camp schedule for the summer?
“I don’t know yet. Right now, I am focused on school and spring ball.”
Martin, thanks for your time today. Good luck with the spring showcase and the upcoming visits.
“Thank you.”
