The Buckeyes are off to a great start towards another Top 5 recruiting class pulling in their third four-star recruit for the 2018 class with the addition of California safety Jaiden Woodbey on Monday.
Even though the recruiting process is just starting for a lot of 2018 players, Woodbey’s has been ongoing for some time with 20 offers already on the table. The 6-2, 205 pound, defensive back picked Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Florida, Cal, Louisville, Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame among others. On Jan. 15, Woodbey posted a final four of USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.
Woodbey broke a lot of hearts in southern California choosing to break away from the family legacy at USC where his father played. The St. John Bosco star posted his decision on Twitter to the delight of OSU fans across the country:
The recruiting frenzy over Woodbey grew after the hard hitting playmaker helped the Braves to a 13-2 record in 2016 which included capturing a California state championship. Woodbey had 70 tackles and four interceptions during his junior season. In the 56-33 St. John Bosco win over De La Salle, Woodbey had eight tackles and a pick taking a kickoff back 52 yards. Woodbey returned eight kickoffs for a total of 231 yards in 2016.
Ohio State’s other two recruits are dual-threat Georgia quarterback Emory Jones (Heard County High School) and Florida running back Brian Snead (Armwood High School).
