BRADENTON, Fla. – College programs have set down 31 offers for Byron Louis (6-0, 210) with the recruiting battles for the four-star intensifying. Three squads welcomed the 2025 American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) tailback in recent weeks, and two key stalwarts will get their chance to give him the red-carpet treatment this summer.
Giving an update on his overall recruiting process, Louis shared the offers he’s received are enough.
“I got them all, all the ones I need at least,” Louis stated.
Fans and coaching staffs may never know which way Louis is leaning in his decision making.
“No, I haven’t put out a top schools list,” Louis shared. “The top schools list is hard, because I feel all that does is stir up the pot and plays with coaches’ minds, that’s not what I am here for. I am here to take it seriously. If I do post it, it would be a genuine list not just to post it and throw whatever out there.”
A half dozen teams are letting Louis know he is a priority in the ’25 cycle.
“Miami, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, USC, and Oklahoma,” Louis stated.
Asked if any of the teams are pushing harder than the others, Louis replied, “Pretty much all of them actually, there’s not one that is skipping a beat.”
The offseason travel arrangements were updated.
“I’ve been to Ohio State, Georgia, and I visited USC,” Louis said. “I have yet to visit Alabama and Oklahoma.”
Louis detailed his relationship and thoughts on the teams making that contact with him.
Alabama: “Alabama is pretty high. I still have to go on campus to get a feel for the coaching staff; that is the only way to really know, if you are on campus.”
Georgia: “The feel is, they are going to work, and they are going to work hard. They are going to make sure they handle business, and they will get it done. From the weight room to the meetings to being on the field, the best of the best is there.”
Miami: “The relationship is amazing. I can walk on campus, and everyone knows my name and knows me. It is amazing going back.”
Ohio State: “Same. I can walk in at Ohio State like I am already a player. That’s a good thing to know that they know me, they know what my abilities are, and they know what I can do.”
Oklahoma: “Even though they have a new staff, I am looking for something stable, I feel that DeMarco Murray (RB) would develop me to be the best running back I can be.”
Information on the trip to LA spending time with the Trojans was covered.
“It was beautiful out there,” Louis stated. “I think I like LA weather a little better. They got the sun with the wind; Miami is just hot.”
Two summer trips are being set.
“I will be taking one more, maybe two,” Louis said. “I will be going to Oklahoma, and I am working on another one.”
On that second potential visit, Louis stated, “Roll Tide.”
Once the 2023 season kicks off, Louis will get a healthy dose of ACC and Big Ten football.
“That’s a good one,” Louis shared. “I am trying to go to the biggest game in college football history, Ohio State vs. Michigan. I am also going to try to go to Penn State and Ohio State. Of course, I will be going to Miami games because that is inevitable. I have to go; I have guys there. I’m looking into some games in the Big Ten, and I will try to get to some in the SEC.”
