Triton Chandler had a solid junior campaign for Victory Christian in Tulsa as he helped the Conquerors score 38.1 points a game and reach the third round of the playoffs with a 6-6 record. During the 2020 season, the 6’2”, 190 pound, dual-threat playmaker had 35 total touchdowns while throwing for just under 2,500 yards and rushing for another 1,200 yards.

Chandler possesses good footwork, intensity, and field vision while also having a strong and accurate arm. He also is a good leader both on and off the field.

This Class of 2022 recruit is currently drawing interest from several colleges so it’s only a matter before he receives his first college offer. Not only is Chandler a star on the gridiron but is also featured on the basketball and track teams and has a 4.31 GPA in the classroom.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Triton to talk about his junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Triton, what are your thoughts on your junior season?

My junior season overall was amazing. It was really fun playing with a great team and we did way better than anyone thought we would.

How would you grade your individual performance in 2020?

My individual performance in 2020 was pretty good but I couldn’t have done any of it without the great teammates I had this year.

What are your strengths on the football field?

My strengths are decision making, passing, and scrambling.

What would you say was your best game and why?

My best game was Week 1 against Pawhuska, even though we lost. I had six touchdowns and 597 total yards, and it was all because of our amazing receivers and offensive line.

What kind of challenges did you face during your junior season?

As a team, we faced injuries and a really tough schedule. But the main challenge was learning a completely new offense.

How did you overcome these challenges?

I would study the playbook every chance I got.

What kind of offensive scheme does Victory Christian run?

We run a balanced offense with a lot of RPOs (run-pass option).

How do your skills fit into this scheme?

It gives me a lot of freedom to make decisions and be able to run or pass on almost every play.

Would you consider yourself a dual-threat or pro-style quarterback?

Definitely a dual threat.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

I love watching Baker Mayfield because of his passion for the game and ability to make a play out of any situation.

How would you describe what kind of player you are?

I would describe myself as a passionate player. I love the game, my teammates and winning.

How would you describe what kind of teammate you are?

I lead by example. I try to go as hard as I can all the time and make my teammates around me better.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I play basketball and run track.

What do you like most about playing at Victory Christian?

My teammates and coaches. I would do anything for them, and I love how everyone has bought in.

What are your goals for the offseason?

I want to become stronger and become a better vocal leader.

Are there any schools showing interest in you?

Yes. Throughout my high school career, I’ve attended numerous camps and had many coaches show interest. This year I’ve had the opportunity to talk to several coaches that are all showing interest.

What is your GPA?

4.31.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you, sir.
