Suspense over which SEC program would land Holmes C.C. 2016 defensive lineman Josiah Coatney ended Thursday afternoon when the Georgia native picked Ole Miss.
Coatney joins a great overall collection of talent in Oxford as part of the 2016 class. Ole Miss celebrated on National Signing Day the addition of four-star defensive end Charles Wiley (Stockbridge, GA) and four-star defensive tackle Benito Jones (Waynesboro, MS). Coatney becomes the third member of the defensive front able to play on the inside or outside.
The 6’5”, 285 pound, lineman secured 23 solo tackles – 46 overall in 2015 with 8.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, and a 30-yard pick-six for the Bulldogs. Offers came in from SEC schools with Mississippi State, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Texas A&M among the many. Coatney took official visits to all SEC programs except MSU.
Coatney announced on April 14 a Top 4 of Ole Miss and Alabama, tied at No. 1, followed by Florida and Texas A&M.
