Ole Miss Secures Class of 2016 3-Star OG Chandler Tuitt from Georgia

On Friday Ole Miss added verbal commitment No. 15 pulling offensive guard Chandler Tuitt away from SEC East foes Georgia and Florida.
Tuitt worked his way from being in the 260 pound range as a highly productive junior for Sandy Creek High School to being a growing 6’3”, 294 pound, near college ready lineman heading into his senior season. Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina all offered but by the end of June Tuitt had narrowed down his choices to Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida pointing out Ole Miss, Georgia, and Florida were the frontrunners due to constant contact.
Landing Tuitt was a nice win for Ole Miss on the recruiting trail especially given that Georgia was on the Tyrone area native. Tuitt’s offseason progression with his weight and strength takes him from a small project at the next level to a player that could contribute by Year 2 if needed. Tuitt has good hands and good footwork but must improve both while working on his hips and knees before being SEC ready.
The Rebels’ 2016 recruiting class is shaping up to be another Top 20 – Top 15 group. Tuitt joins fellow Georgian Jack DeFoor (Calhoun) and Mississippi native Eli Johnson (Lafayette High School) as the three committed linemen. The class is layered with five 4-star recruits and one 5-star prospect, IMG Academy quarterback Shea Patterson.
