Every high school team needs that guy in the box who can make the routine plays stuffing the run and, when needed, make the big play that swings momentum back to his squad. At Heritage Christian in Los Angeles, the Warriors have that guy in rising 2026 middle linebacker Nicholas Boldt.
The Warriors plugged Boldt (6-0, 190) into the middle of their scheme last fall getting 55 stops, 29 solo, with eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, a pick, and a forced fumble in seven games.
Being a leader of the Warriors’ 3-3 front, Boldt spoke about how he prepared for each contest.
“Each game I had a routine that I would follow; I would workout before and eat well the nights ahead,” Boldt said. “On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we’d watch film. We’d go over the offense, what they ran and what to expect. On my own, I would take 20-30 extra minutes to go over everything each day and did that on game days as well.”
The prep work paid off under the Friday night lights.
“I think my explosiveness improved and my will to tackle; I wasn’t scared of anything,” Boldt stated. “I was full steam ahead. As a middle linebacker, I had to take charge of the defense. I was calling half of the plays or getting the plays from coach and relaying them. Reading my keys, reading the center and guard improved, and I was helping out my teammates.”
Boldt continued covering the strengths to his game, “I have a good football IQ and I have determination. Whether we are winning or losing, I don’t change. I stayed the same throughout the game regardless of the score.”
The offseason grind is about in-season success.
“This offseason I am working on my mobility, my footwork, cutting out false steps, and my downward movement,” Boldt shared. “I watch a lot of coaching tutorials and drills to do on my own. I look up linebacker drills, then see what I can do on my own.”
Next season Boldt is hoping to show off more of his athleticism to college scouts.
“Next year I will be playing linebacker, but I am trying to get back at receiver,” Boldt said.
With some interest coming in from teams like Nebraska, Boldt plans to attend area satellite and college camps this summer.
In addition to his success on the field, Boldt is also a standout centerfielder for Heritage Christian all while carrying a 4.16 GPA.
