BRADENTON, Fla. – During the 2022 season, Andrew Heidel split snaps in Manatee High School’s pocket but the upcoming schedule is set to be his to fully guide. The 2025 prospect (6-2, 195) showed flashes of big things to come with his arm strength and dual threat abilities. Scouts are keying in on Heidel ready to see a full season of action-packed plays. Ahead of taking Manatee into the playoffs, offensive coordinators and quarterback coaches will get to see Heidel on a busy collegiate camp circuit.
Heidel used the extra time on the field this spring to gel with his teammates and improve his game running the Hurricanes’ Spread attack.
“We showed a lot of promising things this spring, and we have things we can work on to get better,” Heidel said. “One thing I wanted to work on more was staying in the pocket and trusting my offensive linemen more, not scrambling as much and keeping my eyes downfield.”
Asked what he feels are the strengths to his game at quarterback, Heidel replied, “I believe my ability to throw the ball with my arm strength and accuracy.”
While Heidel improved upon his pocket abilities, he was doing so in front of next level evaluators.
“A lot of college coaches came by,” Heidel stated. “UMass came by and said they were interested, and West Virginia too.”
After competing at exposure camps this spring, Heidel is spreading out around the country to show what he can do.
“I am going to a Mercer camp in Georgia, South Alabama, West Virginia, FSU, USF, UCF, and Yale camps,” Heidel shared. “West Virginia, Yale, and USF reached out to me about their camps.”
Heidel completed 57 passes last fall covering 874 yards with three passing touchdowns and produced two rushing scores in split time over 10 games.
