It only takes a couple of minutes of talking to Urael Blackshear and about two plays into his highlight reel to know everything you need to know about the Los Angeles area talent – he is a fighter who never quits.
Blackshear is a running back/slot receiver for Salesian High School. The 5’5”, 155 pound, athlete is not going to blow anyone way away with off the chart numbers but he has an amazing knack of making plays showing his fight and grit play after play. Blackshear muscled, juked, and fought for 267 rushing yards off 52 carries with four scores during his junior season. He added another 29 receptions covering 298 yards with at least one score coming out of the backfield and in the slot and even notched 16 tackles on the year.
Colleges are coming around with San Diego State, Utah, Columbia, and Purdue all showing interest in Blackshear.
In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with Blackshear before the one-on-one drills at the Nike Opening regional in Los Angeles covering his offseason camp schedule and received a recruiting news update.
