After suiting up with Stillwater High School (Okla.) during his sophomore season, expectations are amping up on Conner Quintero’s (6-0, 185) junior campaign. Four offers are in hand for the 2026 talent with influential spring visits getting scheduled.
Mixing his time between varsity and junior varsity action, Quintero saw improvements in his game.
“This past season, being able to read a defense excelled for me,” Quintero said. “I got in the groove with the coverage knowing where I am going with the ball. I was proud of myself on how I was able to read defenses even before the snap.
“My ability to read defenses is a strength. From outside sources, when they first see me, they tell me how fast my release is; I hadn’t noticed it. Even if I am late on a read or further out on a break, my quickness and ability with my release makes up for a lot of it. That is a big strength. Making plays and being out of the pocket are strengths; I like making plays. I like switching my arm angles up. Those are my strengths.”
Quintero is working on his overall game this offseason.
“A lot of the game is mental,” Quintero stated. “I am also working on the physical aspects, getting bigger, stronger, faster, and quicker. I want to run faster, have quicker footwork, and be a better runner as a quarterback.”
Quintero is receiving extra help from one of the nation’s top QB trainers.
“I have been working lately with Baylin Trujillo out of Florida,” Quintero shared. “I just went down to Orlando to work with him. Also, I am working with 3DQB in California and Texas. I have been with them for the last three years. They have a big fraternity of quarterbacks; that is a great tool to utilize.”
On the recruiting trail, Quintero picked up his first offer from one of the nation’s top programs.
“Oregon was my first offer; that came early in my recruiting,” Quintero stated. “When I got it, it was like wow. Obviously, I couldn’t commit being so young. I have a lot of work to do. But I had put in so much work over the last few years, it is starting to pay off. I still have a lot of work to do, but it was an exciting moment. I know I have to keep my head down and keep on working.”
Oregon is not the only program seeing Quintero becoming a collegiate field general.
“I have an offer from University of Tulsa, from coach Spurrier, coach Steve Spurrier’s son, Steve Spurrier Jr.,” Quintero shared. “He came to school to offer me. UNLV and Kennesaw State have also offered me.”
More teams are ready to see extended film on Quintero.
“OU has been showing interest,” Quintero said. “I just got off the phone with UCF last week. I am going down there over spring break. West Virginia has been in contact; I am in the loop with them as well.”
On heading down to Orlando to see the Knights, Quintero gave, “UCF has always been a big school for me. I want to major in aerospace engineering; they are the best. I am hyped to go there. I hope to make some connections there.”
Fall visits were covered and upcoming visits were lined out.
“We played a lot of Thursday games, which was weird, we would have practices after our games, I couldn’t go on visits,” Quintero stated. “At the end of season I took visits. I went to Tulsa. The hospitality at Tulsa was great. I was excited to do that. I went to OSU (Oklahoma State) as well.
“I am probably going to Tulsa’s Junior Day and to OU,” Quintero said. “I am not sure if OSU is having one or not. This summer I am going on a lot of visits. I will go to camps and take a visit with the coaches afterwards.”
The exposure camp season has already begun for Quintero, and in great style.
“I went to the Prep Red Zone camp in Oklahoma, I received QB MVP there,” Quintero shared. “I plan on going to the UA (Under Armour) camp in Dallas and the Elite 11 regional in Austin in April.”
