The fertile college football recruiting grounds in northern California are finally starting to get recognized on a national scale with more and more area talents extending their careers to the collegiate ranks. On Sunday, Oregon secured a commitment from a rising Class of 2016 star, Bryson Young.
Young, listed at 6’5”, 220 pounds, started popping up on the recruiting radar last season for Buchanan High School. The Clovis area talent had picked up offers from USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Tennessee, and Michigan before calling the Ducks home for college.
The commitment was made public via Twitter with Young posting, “Blessed to say that I have committed the next chapter of my life of being a student-athlete to the University of Oregon #stayfaithful #WTD.”
The Bears are off to a 4-2 start with the help of Young. Young is a difference maker on the outside with enough speed to rush the passer and drop back into coverage taking on slot receivers, tight ends, or running backs out of the backfield.
Oregon now has 15 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class with Young being the second defensive end joining Hunter Kampmoyer.
