Oregon State added a great all-around athlete to their 2017 recruiting class Monday night when in-state talent David Morris committed to the Beavers.
Morris started drawing recruiting interest after helping Sherwood High School to a 12-1 record in 2015. The Bowmen made a run into the Oregon 6A High School Playoff semifinals before falling to West Linn. The 6’3”, 205 pound, standout led Sherwood in rush yards with 870 off 59 carries with 11 scores and added nine receptions for 169 more yards with four more touchdowns in the passing game.
Colleges like Oregon State liked what they saw of Morris on defense at linebacker. Morris led his team in tackles with 77 while picking off a pass and defending five passing attempts. Teams to offer Morris includes Cal, Boise State, Hawaii, Colorado State, and Washington State.
Morris made his announcement public on Twitter posting, “All glory to God. #Committed.” Followed by a posted statement:
The Beavers now have four verbal commitments to their 2017 class. Three of the four have all come in the month of May starting with California three-star quarterback Aidan Williard, Florida wide receiver Quantino Allen, and then Morris.
