Big and fast with an amazingly high ceiling, those are the quick traits to the game for receiver Naeshaun Montgomery. The rock was spread around Cardinal Newman’s attack last fall during an 11-1 campaign against Florida competition, but Montgomery was still able to showcase the skills that have led to 22 offers and four-star recruiting status.
The 2025 receiver shared which teams are hitting up his phone regularly, “Miami, Pitt, Penn State, LSU here and there, and Texas A&M.”
Working over 7-on-7 teams with national power RAW, the traveling opportunities have allowed Montgomery to see campuses across the country.
“With my 7-on-7 team, we went to Miami, A&M, Texas, LSU, and Penn State,” Montgomery stated. “We are going to USC in June.”
The local team made Montgomery feel at home.
“The Miami visit was great,” Montgomery shared. “They showed a lot of love, and made it feel like home; that was the biggest thing to me.”
The Aggies made Montgomery’s stop memorable.
“It was great,” Montgomery said. “We toured the school, and on that same day I got the offer. After the visit we went around in golf carts and learned about the academic side. Their coach brought me into the office to get the offer. I enjoyed it. I love that school.”
Being in Baton Rouge was part of a dream realized.
“It was great,” Montgomery stated. “Growing up, that was my dream school. Overall, the coaches showed a lot of love. I fell in love with the school instantly. As I take visits, I get the same feelings from other schools.”
Penn State did not let Montgomery down while he was in Happy Valley.
“It was actually great,” Montgomery shared. “I loved that one. They showed a lot of love. Their coaches were screaming my name when I got there; I had a great weekend. Their coaching staff was so energetic.”
The trip to LA will allow Montgomery to learn more about the Trojans.
“USC was my second offer, I want to know what it is all about,” Montgomery said.
College teams have paraded down to Cardinal Newman’s West Palm Beach campus to see Montgomery and his teammates.
“Iowa, Western Michigan, Western Kentucky, West Virginia, Alabama, A&M, and Miami came the first day of spring,” Montgomery stated. “There has been a bunch of other schools that have come by.”
Having a former Clemson player on the Crusaders’ coaching staff is helping the Tigers get Montgomery on campus this summer.
“My first camp is with Clemson,” Montgomery shared. “My receiver coach (Jacoby Ford) played at Clemson (2006-09). He always has me watch his film, and that makes me want to go visit.”
