Before all is said and done, Fellowship Christian School (Roswell, GA) talent Josh Petty will have all the offers. The 2025 prospect is fast-tracking to the 30-scholarship milestone holding 26 lined by teams across the U.S. Once tape comes out from the upcoming season, expect the 6-5, 270-pound, offensive tackle to win over the holdouts in the scholarship opportunity department.
The summer goals for Petty have been all about improvement.
“This offseason, my main focus was on working on my pass-set and working on my punch,” Petty said. “At Velocity Football Academy with coach Josh Richardson, and I have been working with coach Willie Anderson, helping me a ton on being more fluid. I am more confident and moving more fluidly.”
Petty continued looking ahead to fall schedule goals.
“I want to prove myself becoming a five-star plus player with some of the best film,” Petty stated. “I want 200 pancakes. That is a tough goal, but I believe I can get it. I want to put on more weight but not be too heavy so I can’t move. The goal is to get stronger overall.”
The next round of offers will include a big list of blueblood programs.
“Alabama is definitely showing interest, USC as well,” Petty shared. “Oklahoma is showing interest. I talk to coach (Bill) Bedenbaugh (OL) a lot. UCF, Michigan State, and Ohio State; I was supposed to camp there (OSU) but sadly I couldn’t.”
Several squads are letting the five-star know he is a top target in their ’25 cycle.
“I feel a lot of teams have let me know I am a priority, Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, North Carolina, and Stanford; those teams have made constant contact with me,” Petty said.
On Aug. 1, college programs could start hitting up the junior class – Petty was on everyone’s list.
“Today has been one of the most hectic days,” Petty stated. “I struggled with my phone receiving so many texts. I just recently responded; it has been crazy. This morning my phone filled with text messages.”
Petty piled up the airline miles this spring and summer.
“I went to Georgia, North Carolina, Auburn, South Carolina, Stanford, Oregon, Tennessee, and Clemson,” Petty shared.
Staying in-state, the Bulldogs showed Petty a good time.
“It was a great visit,” Petty said. “Being an in-state kid, they treat you really well. I went to camp there originally; it was a great camp. I performed well. I talked to the coaches afterwards. I also went there over the spring, that is when I got my offer. I had a great time at Georgia.”
Last week, Petty headed west making a stop in Eugene.
“Oregon was great,” Petty stated. “I had a fantastic time seeing what they have to offer; it was amazing. It was a great reality check to know how blessed I am in this process; to know how blessed that I am that I can look at schools that high up there.”
Petty added to his time with the Ducks, “I went around campus, talked to all the coaches, and talked with some of the players from Georgia. I also toured their facilities.”
The Cardinal also welcomed Petty to campus.
“Stanford went really-really well,” Petty said. “I got to see them practice, watched them workout, and met former players. They talked about my future there, and the academic aspect. I got to see what Stanford had to offer.”
With a vast jumpstart on his recruiting process, Petty spoke about what is important to him as he evaluates different programs.
“Building theses connections and bonds, education, player development, personal development, what life is like for the players and do they enjoy playing for the team, and the comradery.”
Fall game-day visits have not been set yet, but one can expect Petty’s dance card to be full as time permits.
