Pair of SEC visits being planned by Arkansas three-star 2024 OT Vinny Winters
Arkansas’ Malvern High School put it on opposing 4A defenses last season with a passing attack that went over 2,500 yards and a ground game that moved the ball 4,300-plus yards. That kind of output doesn’t happen by mistake and needs a cornerstone left tackle to move the line of scrimmage downfield. The Leopards have it in three-star 2024 prospect Vinny Winters (6-4, 290).
Projected as a next level interior lineman to start of his collegiate career, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Kansas State, Missouri, Memphis, and UNLV have been the teams to drop offers.
Three programs have hosted Winters during the spring open period. Winters shared his thoughts on each visit.
Kansas State: “It was me and my buddy Jalen Dupree, the (2024) running back on my team. We drove up the day of; it was a really great experience. They are very good people there. I like how they treat their linemen. Overall, Kansas State is a good school. I liked it a lot.”
Memphis: “I drove up there the day of, it was a good visit. They showed me around, and I watched them practice. I saw how they coach their linemen; I did the same at Kansas State. Memphis is a good-looking school. I like their o-line coach (Jeff Myers), he texts me often. I liked it.”
Arkansas State: “That was pretty great. I like their o-line coach (Andy Kwon). He has been in contact a lot. They have awesome facilities. I got to watch them practice. It was really nice. I liked it a lot.”
Two SEC visits are in the works for Winters.
“Ole Miss and I am trying to get to Missouri,” Winters said.
Winters was set to visit Oxford last weekend and is ready to reset the date.
“They have been in contact with me a few times,” Winters shared. “I was supposed to go down there last weekend but I had a funeral to go to. I look forward to going down there.”
The persistence over the phone by offensive line coach Brandon Jones and the Tigers’ coaching staff has Winters ready to see Columbia.
“Their o-line coach, coach Jones, and recruiters talk to me often,” Winters stated.
