Interview
How was it playing the No. 2 team in the state at home to open the season?
“I loved it couldn’t ask for a better home opening win at home in Rome
You have won two back-to-back 5A state titles and, like I stated previously, were the home team and they still had you as a four-point underdog; was that motivation for tonight?
“We, for some reason, are always underdogs in our big games, but it’s all good. We came away with another victory. It was the best feel to beat the No. 20 ranked team according to Max Preps.”
You played a team made up of three 5-stars and four 3-stars all together including the No.1 ATH/DE in the nation (2020), was there anything intimidating at all about all the recruiting rankings?
“No! They play football just like us man. We are a team and homegrown, this is what we do.”
What are your expectations for Rome the rest of the season?
“To do better on both sides versus everyone we play and bring a third straight title back to Rome.”
Which schools have shown interest in you the most this season so far?
“Marshall, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern so far with more to come.”
Xavier, thanks for your time today, congratulations on the big win.
“Thank you.”
