Power Five visits coming for seven-offer 2026 Florida QB Dereon Coleman

ORLANDO – A powerhouse high school in the state of Florida has another torch bearer coming up through the ranks to keep the victories piling up. When the 2023 season kicks off, Jones High School (Orlando) will have rising 2026 quarterback Dereon Coleman on the roster. The gifted gunslinger is already popping up on college boards with seven opportunities in hand. Over the summer months, Coleman will set out around the country taking in college programs and what they have to offer.

In early March, Coleman headed to South Florida hanging with the Hurricanes. The summer visit plans were covered.

“This summer I am visiting Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, and I think Alabama,” Coleman shared.

Coleman spoke about his interest in heading to Columbus.

“I love Ohio State,” Coleman said. “That’s a quarterback school, a quarterback powerhouse. A lot of quarterbacks come out of there. I might want to be a part of that one day.”

The opportunity to develop into an NFL quarterback in Tuscaloosa has Coleman ready to learn more about the Crimson Tide.

“Alabama is a powerhouse also,” Coleman stated. “They can get you off to the league, you just have to be dedicated.”

Over in Oxford, the Rebels are already developing a strong bond with Coleman.

“They communicate with me most every week, sometimes a few times a week,” Coleman shared. “We are building a great relationship.”

The messaging out of College Station is making an impact with Coleman as well.

“They really want me to come down,” Coleman said. “I communicate with them once a week; I’m liking the conversations we are having.”

Coleman caught attention during the 2021 season playing varsity ball as an eighth grader throwing for 1,180 yards in 10 games with 12 touchdowns for Plant City.

Seven schools have offered Coleman thus far, Florida Atlantic, Incarnate Word, Marshall, Ole Miss, South Florida, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech.
