Double moves, beating his guy off the line, gaining separation, adjusting to the ball – anything Fadrelle Andrus (6-2, 170) can do to make the play he does for his team. The Class of 2024 was a big part of the Columbus Explorers’ (Miami) Florida state championship run last fall covering 420 yards off 24 receptions with five touchdowns. This season, the big target is displaying his skills for Palmetto ready to add to his five offers.
The new offense with the Tigers is receiver friendly.
“At Columbus we were more of a tight end formation, but at Palmetto we are more of a spread,” Andrus stated. “We have a fast-paced offense; we get the ball in the air. In the second half of our season opener, we got our offense going.”
True to his craft, Andrus focuses on being a crispy route runner.
“I am working on my route running; I have catching down,” Andrus said. “I am trying to get my explosiveness up and I am working on getting more separation with every route.”
Asked if there were any aspects to his game he feels are overlooked, Andrus replied, “Definitely my route running ability. That is my main focus on routes – getting open and getting separation. I work on that every day.”
Akron, Bowling Green, Florida International, Marshall, and Tennessee-Martin are the teams already wanting Andrus’ skills at the next level. More D-I teams are ready to see his senior tape.
“I am getting messages from Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee, and Coastal (Carolina),” Andrus shared. “They are DM-ing me on Twitter, they just haven’t offered yet.”
The hometown team is letting Andrus know he is wanted.
“FIU, they have been the main school; they are always contacting me sending me photos,” Andrus stated.
Over the summer, the Panthers got to see Andrus in person during a camp and for a visit.
“It was good,” Andrus said. “They showed me around campus and showed me the dorms; it looked great.”
Fall visits for Andrus have not been set yet, but expect the senior to spend a game-day with the Panthers in the coming weeks.
Palmetto grinded out a tough season opener for the win against Homestead (13-12) with Andrus contributing 39 yards off two receptions with a touchdown.
