The Razorbacks added another offensive/defensive line prospect to their 2016 recruiting Monday night. Depending on how National Signing Day unfolds will determine if Little Rock Christian talent Dylan Hays will be considered a signed member of the 2016 class or a grayshirt addition.
Arkansas flipped Hays from his commitment to Central Arkansas but may have in reality won out over last minute offers from Missouri and Indiana. Hays took an official visit to the Hoosier on Jan. 29 but ended up accepting the grayshirt offer for now with the possibility of inking his letter of intent on NSD with the Razorbacks.
The Razorbacks have been high on the in-state prospect recruiting Hays since last summer when they offered him a preferred walk-on opportunity after a camp. During Hays’ senior year, he earned 5A West Conference Defensive MVP, 5A West Defensive Lineman MVP, and was a 5A first team All-State selection. Hays was a part of a Warriors squad that went 12-1 in 2015 with Class of 2016 running back Damarea Crockett (Missouri) and wide receiver Joe Hampton (UCA) leading the way along with Class of 2017 wide out Austin Guymon (uncommitted).
Hays posted his decommitment from UCA on Twitter stating, “After talking with my family and lots of prayer, I have decided to decommit from UCA, I appreciate everything they have offered me, and they will always have a special place in my heart.”
Arkansas, with Hays, has 22 verbal commitments to their 2016 class. The Hogs are still awaiting Feb. 3 decisions on 5-star Louisiana cornerback Kristian Fulton, 4-star wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, 4-star running back Kyle Porter, and 3-star strong safety Calvin Bundage.
