Arkansas added a much needed piece to their 2017 recruiting class landing a potential impact middle linebacker in Kyrei Fisher on Monday.

Fisher has all the physical tools to be the Mike linebacker the Hogs have been searching for under head coach Bret Bielema. Listed at 6-2, 230 pounds, Fisher has the size, speed, and strength to be the man in the middle for the Razorbacks for years to come. The Hogs could also use Fisher on the outside, where he played for Tulsa Union High School as a weakside rush end or strongside linebacker. As a mid-term enrollee, Arkansas will have spring practices to find the right fit for their new linebacker.

College coaches paid attention to Fisher’s senior season as he helped the Redskins to an 11-2 record. Fisher, a consensus three-star, had 20 scholarship offers before committing to the Hogs. Teams offering included Colorado, Houston, Arkansas State, Wyoming, Navy, Kansas, SMU, North Texas, and Michigan State.

Minnesota gained Fisher’s initial verbal commitment but he had a change of heart on Dec. 16. The Hogs got into the mix late offering on Nov. 5, one week before hosting him on an official. Texas hosted Fisher on Dec. 10, but had yet to offer. With Fisher decommitting from the Golden Gophers six days later, where he would land was anyone’s guess. Fisher had a signing ceremony and then posted his announcement on Twitter writing, “It’s official I’m now an Arkansas razorback [sic] woo pig.”

The Hogs 2017 recruiting class is ranked No. 22 in the nation by 247Sports, No. 10 in the SEC. Rivals sees the group as the No. 18 haul in the nation with four four-star recruits and 15 three-star players.
