VENICE, Fla. – Chris Lee Jr. went against a tough Florida lineup during his junior season and will be tested again this fall with a new squad at Venice High School. Lee (6-0, 215) roamed the box in 2022 for Clearwater Central Catholic (Fla.) working to three-star status. As the offers came in, Lee found his next level landing spot in a hurry with Charlotte. Now Lee is helping recruit other prospects for the 49ers.
Over the spring months, Lee took his fair share of visits, a list that included an early April stop in Charlotte. That unofficial led to his April 27 verbal commitment.
“Everything is up to date,” Lee said. “I am very key on my recovery; what can I do when I am off the field to keep my body in peak shape? They offer all of that. The family atmosphere. Coach (Biff) Poggi and my guy, coach (Justin) Sanders (DB), they help give that family atmosphere, and I love it.”
Lee shared what the 49ers had separating them from the pack.
“Their loyalty and commitment to me, how they sought me out, how they showed me what they have to offer, and the ability to play as an incoming freshman,” Lee shared. “I want to make an immediate impact and make it to the next level (NFL); that is everyone’s goal.”
Now that Lee is locked in, he is trying to get others to join him.
“I am talking to guys that they have already offered,” Lee stated. “I’m letting them know what we have and I’m letting them know we can come in and change the culture in Charlotte while building a name for yourself; not just focused on name, image, and likeness, what can the school give me, and what type of cleats and gloves you can get.”
Lee has one important visit coming up, his official to Charlotte.
“I have an official coming up this fall, a game-day visit,” Lee said. “I am looking forward to that.”
Seeing the team’s mental approach and pregame routine is important for Lee.
“I want to see how the team interacts with each other on game day, and I want to see where everyone’s head is,” Lee stated. “I want to prepare myself for when I am in those positions. I want to go to those games and come back to my own season incorporating that into my own game.”
Charlotte won over Lee’s verbal commitment from competing scholarship opportunities from Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Texas Tech, and Tulane among others.
