When you are good, college programs have a way of letting you know. For Nasir Smith, next level programs have dropped 33 offers in Smith’s lap in the hopes of signing the Georgia product. More offers are set to come, especially with the different looks Smith (6-4, 270) will showcase during his senior season.

Once the 2023 schedule kicks off with Grayson High School (Loganville), a slimmer Smith will be featured on the Rams’ defensive front.

“I will be playing all over the line this season, off the edge and owning my gap,” Smith stated.

To prepare for the last run, Smith has taken the offseason workouts seriously.

“We’ve been working on change of direction, building our endurance so we are strong at the end of the game, and our speed,” Smith said. “We’ve been doing a lot of speed work. For me, I’ve been working on is staying low and owning my gap. Those are the things I need to work on for sure.”

Smith has not started setting official visits yet with a process that is still ongoing. Teams like Virginia, Middle Tennessee, and Wisconsin are showing interest with a lot of offering programs making that push.

Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisville, Ole Miss, and USC reaches out a lot,” Smith shared. “South Florida reaches out very often.”

The Rams are loaded with next level talent making it a must-stop spot in the Peach State for visiting college coaches. Those coaches have let Smith know they are on campus.

“Oh man, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Arkansas State came by today, Miami, Cincinnati, and Virginia; those are the schools I can remember off the top of my head,” Smith shared.

Four SEC programs could host Smith on unofficial visits in the coming weeks.

“I want to visit Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, and LSU,” Smith stated. “I’m trying to get to LSU really soon.”

The Volunteers jumping on Smith early made an impact.

“Man, me and Tennessee, that is the first school to show interest in me,” Smith said. “They were the first school to tell me that they want me at their school. I felt like when their coach was talking to me, he was talking to me for real. He was talking to me like a human being.”

The bond with the Bulldogs’ coaching staff has Smith ready to return to Athens.

“With Georgia, Coach Tray Scott (DL) is a great dude,” Smith shared. “He is so energetic and so real. Coach Tray Scott is so real, he does not sugarcoat it. If he tells you something, it is real. He will be honest with you. Last year he told me some of the things from the camp, the day I got the offer, he told me the things I was not good at, like staying low. Him telling me that inspired me.”

The want to visit the Tigers in Baton Rouge extends back to Smith’s childhood.

“They are a great school,” Smith stated. “Their football program, I have been watching them since I was a child. Everything they do is great.”

On the topic of official visits, Smith is “taking it slow” for now, but does plan to camp with the Bulldogs again this summer.
