With a smooth fluid motion and fire coming off the release, 2026 quarterback Dylan Reese (5-11, 190) landed on the recruiting scene during the 2023 high school football season. Working then against 6A Alabama defenses with Pinson Valley, Reese tossed the pigskin around for 1,781 yards with 15 touchdowns through the Indians 10-game schedule. Making the move to A.H. Parker (Birmingham) this spring, big expectations follow with the rising talent.
Executing a Spread – run-pass option attack last fall, Reese spoke about the things he did well as a passer on the field.
“Making the mid-level throws and the throws on the perimeter of the field,” Reese stated. “I’d also say being able to read defenses, making reads off key players, and staying focused in the game.”
With the Thundering Herd, Reese will be asked to execute a similar style offense.
“I think we will be balanced, but the base will most likely be a Spread,” Reese said.
Rolling to a 12-2 record, the Herd was prolific on offense in 2023 compiling 2,500 yards in the air and 3,500 on the ground. Reese’s attention is on keeping the high-powered offense going receiving extra guidance working with coach Demetric Price of Price Elite Quarterback Academy.
“I am working on my consistency, working on moving in the pocket, and staying in the pocket,” Reese shared. “I am excited to play in this upcoming season.”
Reese added, “With coach Price, we are mainly working on off-platform throws, getting outside of the pocket and setting back up.”
Recruiting opportunities are picking up in a hurry. Multiple game-day visits were made to Auburn over the fall months with Alabama State dropping his first offer.
On landing the scholarship from the Hornets, Reese shared, “It was really exciting. It was a dream come true. I want to build on top of that.”
The teams showing interest were listed by Reese, “South Alabama, Auburn, Wake Forrest, Yale, Princeton, Penn, University of Connecticut, Harvard, and South Alabama; I think they have high interest in me.”
