The Aztecs found an emerging wide receiver in their own backyard securing a commitment from Los Angeles area talent Isaiah Richardson Thursday night.
Richardson has proven to make the most of his opportunities with the ball in his hands. Playing in a run-first offense highlighted by 2018 running back TJ Pledger, Richardson grabbed some attention after pulling down 23 passes for 259 yards with a score during his junior season.
The Eagles are off to a 3-1 start with Pledger still dominating, but Richardson has established a connection with the team’s new quarterback, another top 2018 recruit in Brevin White. White has hit 44 of 76 passes for 798 yards with eight touchdowns on the year. Richardson has five receptions for 113 yards and a score but sports an eye popping 22.6 yard per reception average.
SDSU gained Richardson’s commitment over an offer from San Jose State. The 6-1, 185 pound, recruit posted his commitment on Twitter scribing, “Proud to announce my commitment to SDSU!!! #SDSU17 #GoAztecs.” The post was accompanied with a statement:
SDSU now has eight verbal commitments to their 2017 class.
