San Jose State Heats Up Recruiting Trail with Three Commitments in November

The San Jose State Spartans have been heating up the recruiting trail throughout California to start the month of November landing three recruits in four days. The Spartans have scored first with defensive end/tight end Johnny Rojas and offensive guard Michael Grandy and then landed speedy receiver Tre Webb on Wednesday.

Grandy and Rojas are under-the-radar recruits targeting solely by San Jose State. Rojas is a weak-side defensive end/tight end out of Clovis West High School in the recruiting rich area of Fresno. Listed at 6’6”, 220 pounds, Rojas has the frame to add weight and be a speed rusher off the edge or an every down tight end on offense being able to help out as a blocking threat on running downs. Grandy (6’3”, 280) was taken out of Stanford’s backyard. With the Vikings, Grandy blocks in a balanced offense easing his transition into playing at the next level.

Webb comes out of the high school ranks battle tested after playing for Servite High School. Webb is having a solid senior season coming up with 22 tackles, a forced fumble, and two picks (stats through seven games). The Spartans have been on Webb for months inviting him to their Junior Day in March. Other schools showing different levels of interest include USC, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, and Utah. San Jose State offered Webb in mid-June.

The Spartans now have 11 verbal commitments to their 2016 class with the early focus on offense with up to seven players who could contribute on that side of the ball once on campus.
