LSU’s lack of a passing game over the last two seasons have not slowed the Tigers down on the recruiting trail. In fact one could argue that it has not hurt at all with 3-star Damonte Coxie and 4-star Dee Anderson already committed. The Tigers picked up another big 2016 recruit on Saturday reeling in Stephen Sullivan.
Sullivan exploded onto the recruiting scene as a junior pulling in 57 passes for 987 yards with 11 touchdowns. During his senior season with Donaldsonville he did not disappoint fans or college recruiters proving to be a big play threat after catching another 57 passes for 1,159 yards averaging 20 yards per reception in just 10 games.
The Louisiana native has double-digit offers with top teams like Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Nebraska, and Ole Miss seeking his rare skill set at the collegiate level. Sullivan appeared to be most interested in LSU, TCU, and Mississippi State taking official visits to all three schools but took numerous unofficial visits to Baton Rouge for game days throughout the season.
The trouble for opposing SEC defenses going forward will be finding a way to match up with the size of LSU’s receivers. Each of the three LSU verbal commits at wide out are over 6-foot 3-inches with Anderson and Sullivan measuring at least 6-foot 5-inches.
The Tigers now have 17 verbal commitments to their 2016 class. Sullivan breaks a long spell for the Tigers who last got a commitment for kicker Connor Culp in early August.
