Like him on offense or defense, regardless of the position, college squads are wanting Carius Curne (6-4, 305) on their 2025 roster. The big man out of Marion High School (Ark.) has his Patriots squad off to a 5-1 start against 6A competition with high profile teams giving him a game pass on Saturdays this fall.
Reporting 11 offers, Curne was asked at which position college programs are recruiting him to play, “On the defensive line. A couple are offering at both.”
LSU and Oklahoma are among the squads showing interest with a handful of SEC teams making heavy contact.
“Right now, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State are reaching out the most,” Curne stated.
The back-to-back defending national champs hosted Curne in September.
“It was great,” Curne shared. “I loved it. I talked to their coaches, got my height and weight measured, and watched the game. I spoke with their defensive line coach, coach (Tray) Scott. He was happy that I came from Arkansas to see him.”
The Bulldogs over in the SEC West were equally happy to see their offered target at Davis Wade Stadium.
“That was a good visit,” Curne said. “I talked to their head coach, coach (Zach) Arnett). We talked about him wanting me to go there.”
Curne also got to hang in Oxford.
“It was good,” Curne stated. “I talked to coach “Suge” (Alex Faulk); he was happy I came. We took pictures too.”
When the Razorbacks return from Tuscaloosa, Curne will be there to see them play Mississippi State.
“I am going to Arkansas next weekend,” Curne shared.
Asked about the rapport in Fayetteville with the Hogs’ staff, Curne replied, “I made a promise that I would go up there. We have a decent relationship. They call and ask about my mom, which I like.”
Nothing is set, but after meeting with Arkansas more trips may be added to the travel schedule.
“I will most likely take more visits, but I have to see what fits in my coach’s schedule,” Curne stated. “He is the one who takes me on the visits.”
Curne’s offer sheet includes Arkansas, Georgia, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, SMU, and Tennessee.
ON THE FIELD
With the Patriots, Curne is a two-way performer. Sliding between tackle and end, Curne talked about Marion’s defense scheme.
“We play 4- and 3-man fronts,” Curne stated. “It depends on what the offense is running.”
Avoiding Curne on defense is a every other play occurrence.
“Some like to take me out of the play, they double team me on defense, and they run the other way,” Curne said.
Curne updated what he’s working on with his skills on offense, “Finishing blocks and I’m working on my feet.”
Mixing his given size with his weight room added strength, Curne looks to set a tone on the gridiron.
“Physicality is a strength of mine; being physical,” Curne shared. “I have good hands and I have good technique, but you have to be physical. You can be big but you can’t be soft.”
