While taking care of business on the field, senior tailback Travis Kerney is also making moves along the recruiting trail. The three-star standout for Sebring High School (Fla.) is narrowing down his recruiting attention with a fall official visit to Kentucky being planned.
After college camp performances at Florida, Florida Atlantic, and South Florida, Kerney (5-11.5, 208) has pulled in offers from Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, South Florida, Georgia State, Howard, North Carolina A&C, and Toledo.
How the Rockets dropped their offer was explained, “I talked to Toledo at the USF camp, they ended up offering me.”
Kentucky and Toledo are the standouts in Kerney’s recruitment showing the most interest. The Wildcats are set to bring Kerney to campus next month.
“I am planning to take an official on my bye week to Kentucky in September,” Kerney shared.
Previewing the trip to Lexington, Kerney shared, “I am very excited. I want to tour the place again and feel like that moment when I first got there.”
Kerney spoke about his rapport with the Wildcats’ coaching staff, “Our relationship is going well; we communicate often. Coach (Jay) Boulware (RB), we check up on each other asking how the week has been and make small talk.”
If all goes as planned, Kerney’s Blue Streaks take a break after their Sept. 22 game against Clearwater Central Catholic for a week before welcoming Lehigh on Oct. 6. On Sept. 30, the Wildcats play host to the Florida Gators.
