The game along the recruiting trail for most college football programs at the quarterback position is two parts, 1) find the right fit to run the scheme and 2) get the highest rated player on the board to help with recruiting rankings to appease the masses. As uncertainty has shot across the sports landscape in all areas due to the Coronavirus, a quicker than usual push has been seen in high school football recruiting, especially at the quarterback position in terms of verbal commitments. Per the 24/7Sports rankings, only two four-stars are left on the board, Trinity Christian’s Shedeur Sanders (Cedar Hill, TX) and Taylorsville’s Ty Keyes (Taylorsville, MS). Pushing out further, there are only two other three-star quarterbacks rated in the Top 50 left to help prop up recruiting rankings for elite college programs; Independence’s Braylon Braxton (Frisco, TX) and St. Thomas’ Maddox Kopp (Houston, TX).

Update

Shedeur Sanders verbally committed to Florida Atlantic (7-13-20)
