South Carolina Keeps 4-Star WR OrTre Smith In-State

The Gamecocks added to their recruits spoils on Sunday landing in-state wide receiver OrTre Smith.

Smith worked his way into being considered a consensus four-star recruit during the 2015 season with Wando High School. The Warriors had a tough season with a posted 3-8 record, but Smith stood out. The 6-3, 215 pound, receiver is a solid possession receiver with great concentration on incoming passes out of the immediate window and especially in traffic.

Before committing to South Carolina, the Mount Pleasant area product had 20 reported scholarship offers from seemingly every other top program in the country. Among the many hoping to land Smith included Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Louisville, and Florida State. Georgia, Clemson, North Carolina, and South Carolina were listed as his top schools.

Rivals ranks South Carolina’s class as the No. 8 haul in the nation. Since late July, USC has been on a recruiting roll landing five players considered four-star recruits. Smith joins Jamyest Williams, MJ Webb, Hamsah Nasirildeen, and TJ Moore among the more prized verbal commitments in the class.
