South Carolina nabs 4-Star Georgia DE MJ Webb

The Gamecocks coaching staff continued strong inroads along the recruiting trail in Georgia coming away with four-star strong-side defensive end MJ Webb on Friday.
Webb was a beast for Morgan County (Madison) during his junior season. The top Bulldog up front ended his year with 77 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles.
The frenzy for Webb at the next level was a Big Ten, ACC, and SEC showdown with offers coming in from Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan State, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
The 6-2.5, 271 pound, defensive anchor took the recruiting process seriously visiting South Carolina twice and Tennessee three times with reported stops to Iowa State and Kentucky. Webb put a stop to his recruitment when he posted his announcement on Twitter reading, “Officially a Gamecock #SpursUp.”
The needs for the Gamecocks on the edge of the defense and in the back seven have been heavily addressed thus far in the 2017 class. Of the 20 verbal commitments USC has picked up thus far, 11 are defensive players covering end, linebacker, safety, and cornerback.
Webb is the second four-star recruit South Carolina has added to the class in August. North Carolina linebacker Hamsah Nasirildeen joined the group on Tuesday.
