There are few receivers who can do it all, and that is run crisp routes with good releases, have the speed to move defenses, catch the rock, and equally as important – block. Matriculating from Central Dauphin (Harrisburg, PA) to East Coast Prep (Great Barrington, MA) for the 2024 season, Mateo Crummel and his 4.4 speed displayed the full arsenal of talents with the Firebirds. Lucky for some college football program, the hidden gem is still weighing recruiting options.

Highlighted on the outside and as a special teams returner, Crummel (6-0, 170) talked about the Firebirds offense.

“We were mostly a Spread-Air Raid offense,” Crummel stated. “It is similar to Texas Tech’s.”

Crummel continued, “I was running fades, posts, outs, curls, digs, and K-corners. I ran every route in the book.”

Within the attack Crummel secured 24 passes for 531 yards with six touchdowns.

“I improved this season getting in and out of my breaks and going up and attacking the ball,” Crummel shared. “I feel that my strengths are being a good team player, a good blocker, my route running, my yards after the catch, and having a great release package.”

Watching film on Crummel, the speed is instantly noticeable.

“My best 40 time is 4.4-flat,” Crummel said. “I ran that at Miami-Ohio. My best 100 time was at a high school meet; I ran a 10.8.”

Stonehill, Albany, St. Francis, and Rhode Island are among the teams scouting Crummel.

“I visited Stonehill in November,” Crummel stated. “The visit went well. I got to see their facilities, and I saw a game. Football is big there. The fans do a lot of tailgating; a lot of people show up for the game. They have a very supportive crowd.”

Like most Class of 2025 prospects, Crummel is in a wait and see situation with college programs filtering through the transfer portal.

During Mateo’s senior season with the Central Dauphin Rams, he secured 52 passes for 870 yards with nine touchdowns and rushed 19 times for 246 yards with two more scores. On defense, Mateo had 46 stops with one interception and six passes broken up. In the return game, Mateo took seven kicks back 211 yards and seven punts for 80 yards.
