The film shows it and the stats back it, in all three phases of the game Madrid Tucker is a difference maker. The Class of 2025 prospect out of Fort Myers High School (Fla.) used his skill, athleticism, and blazing speed earning the athlete label during his sophomore campaign. Since mid-May, Division-I programs have started to find Tucker (6-0, 155) extending five offers his way.
Further backing up the athlete label, Tucker is a four-sport talent for the Green Wave putting on the uniform for football, baseball, basketball, and track. After posting sub-11 times in the 100, Tucker has spent part of his summer toggling back-and-forth between college football camps and national baseball tournaments with Wild Factor National.
Tucker’s college camp appearances included Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and Miami. The performance at the Hurricanes’ camp was covered.
“That went really well, they really like me,” Tucker said. “I am still waiting on it. They did say they really liked me.”
In Gainesville, Tucker showed out on both sides of the ball.
“It went really well,” Tuckers stated. “I got enough reps on offense that I went on defense; they like me on both sides of the ball.”
The mission was accomplished in Athens as well.
“That camp was short, but it went really well,” Tucker shared. “I didn’t get as many reps as I wanted but I did show them what I can do.”
The feedback from coaches at all camps had a similar message.
“They said for me to use your speed to your advantage, they will never know when you are going to burst or break; use your speed,” Tucker said.
Toledo, UCF, USF, Western Michigan, and UNC Pembroke have dropped offers. One of those teams is likely to see Tucker in the coming weeks.
“I will most likely go to USF on a visit,” Tucker stated. “From Fort Myers, local kids go there, and it is close.”
Asked what he likes early in the recruiting process with the Bulls, Tucker replied, “USF has a lot of kids you would have fun around; they grew up the way you did. It is easy to connect with the players, and their coaches are cool and nice.”
When scouts turn on Tucker’s 2023 game film, they will see him making plays in all three phases again.
“I’ll be all around the field but mostly at receiver and corner,” Tucker said. “I’m also returning kicks and punts.”
Asked which skill position is his favorite, Tucker gave, “I’d say defense; playing DB. Everyone wants to play receiver; that gives you more chances on defense to make more plays.”
Getting geared up for the fall schedule, 7-on-7 tournaments this spring was played with Team Tampa.
“It gave me different experiences,” Tucker shared. “Playing on a top team, you play top offenses. You are going against more than the normal receiver, that gives you a different view on things.”
Once that early season highlight film gets posted, there are teams eagerly awaiting to see Tucker’s progress.
“FAU, Miami, FSU, Florida, Cincinnati, that is one that just started coming around, Temple; there’s a lot of teams showing interest,” Tuckers said. “I can’t remember them all right now.”
Tucker closed out his sophomore year among the team leaders in multiple stats for the Green Wave. On defense, Tucker produced 21 stops with three picks. When the field was flipped, Tucker pulled down 24 passes for 401 yards with four touchdowns and carried the rock 31 times for 151 yards with five more scores. On special teams, four kicks were taken back 105 yards with one touchdown, and he returned seven punts for 91 yards.
