St. Thomas More Catholic High School, located in Lafayette, had a very successful season in 2017 as the Cougars finished 11-2 and reached the Division II semifinals where they got tripped 28-14 up by De La Salle. The Cougars only other loss in a fantastic season came on Sept. 22 against Catholic-Baton Rouge. The main reason for St. Thomas More’s remarkable season was the play of the offense, a unit that averaged 36 points a game. The leader of the high-scoring unit was sophomore pro-style quarterback Caleb Holstein.
The 6’4”, 215 pound, signal-caller had a strong sophomore season as he threw for 1,780 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also managed to score five more touchdowns on the ground. After the season, Holstein was named first team All-District.
The Class of 2020 recruit already has two college offers from Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss and is also drawing interest from a big SEC program. With two more seasons, Holstein’s stock will only rise and he is destined to pick up more offers throughout his recruiting process.
Holstein not only stars at quarterback but also in the classroom where he has a 3.7 GPA.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Caleb to discuss his recruiting process and his career at St. Thomas More.
