St. Thomas Aquinas, one of the best teams in the nation, will have to brave the rest of the season without defensive end Nick Bosa after reports the 5-star recruit is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Bosa, the younger brother of Ohio State’s Joey Bosa, has been a headline grabber since his freshman season earning MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors. As a sophomore Bosa had 33 total tackles that included 15 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks. During his junior season in 2014, the 6’4”, 255 pound, playmaker upped his production tallying 56 stops with 29.5 tackles for a loss, and five sacks.
Bosa’s Miami squad is off to a 7-1 record this season with their lone loss coming in a 6-3 upset against Deerfield Beach. In seven games this season Bosa had 21 tackles and 13.5 tackles for a loss with five sacks.
The Sun-Sentinel was the first to break the season ending knee injury for Bosa reporting that the Ohio State commit is expected to make a full recovery. It is not known if surgery will be needed to repair any damage to his knee. The injury happened during a 37-13 win over Blanche Ely High School (Pompano Beach) on Oct. 30.
Despite his stature as a 5-star recruit, few programs took a run at trying to recruit Bosa with most figuring he was headed to Ohio State to play with his brother. In total, Bosa has 11 reported scholarship offers with the others ready to sign him including Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Boston College, South Florida, and Miami. Bosa committed to the Buckeyes on July 23.
St. Thomas Aquinas has two regular season games remaining against Flanagan (Pembroke Pines) and Royal Palm Beach before entering the Florida High School Playoffs.
