Stanford continues hot roll, picks up two commitments in two days
The Stanford Cardinal football program has never been known for rounding up early verbal commitments but more for slowly piecing together solid class after solid recruiting class. 2016 appears to be different having already landing five verbals with the addition of linebacker Curtis Robinson on Monday and defensive back Nygel Edmonds on Tuesday.
Edmonds, a 5’11”, 183 pound, cornerback from McCallie High School is an impressive “get” for the Cardinal. The Chattanooga, Tennessee native has already picked up 30 scholarship offers from top teams in his region like Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Clemson, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and in-state powers Vanderbilt along with Tennessee but decided to head to Palo Alto to play in the Pac-12 over the SEC.
Robinson, like Edmonds, has been highly recruited with over 20 scholarship offers. Word was Robinson’s verbal commitment was down to Stanford and USC over offers from Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Michigan, Boston College, Duke, Oklahoma, and Oregon to name a few.
The 6’3”, 205 pound, two-way star had 25 receptions for 252 yards with one touchdown and picked up 40 tackles with 6.0 tackles for a loss during his junior season.
Stanford has landed four 4-star recruits with defensive tackle Bo Peek being evaluated as a 3-star prospect.
