The recruiting hot spots for college coaches in the Sunshine State do not typically extend to Port Charlotte High School. But for those who have taken the extra time to check out the Sarasota (Fla.) County program, they have found a game-changer at receiver in Jamal Streeter Jr. The 2024 target is coming off a big junior campaign with six offers now in hand.
Get him vertically, break ankles on a comeback, or run him across the middle, Streeter (6-1, 175) will get the job done. The Pirates utilized their rising talent getting team-highs with 55 receptions covering 752 yards with three touchdowns.
The teams in the know have dropped offers: Indiana, Florida International, Toledo, South Dakota, Tennessee-Martin, and Florida A&M. Interest doubled up with teams heading to see him this spring.
“During spring, Toledo, Indiana, Rutgers, FIU, Iowa State, Coastal Carolina, Bowling Green, South Dakota all came by, and there are more,” Streeter stated. “That’s what I can think of right now.”
On May 10, Indiana handed over their scholarship offer.
“They came by school, they were watching us lift weights,” Streeter shared. “I met their coaches, and the next day I got a phone call telling me they were offering me.”
This spring, Streeter got out to see some campuses.
“I visited Louisville, FAU, USF, and FIU,” Streeter said. “FIU offered when I was there.”
The time with the Cardinals was covered.
“It was fantastic,” Streeter shared. “I went up there with my running back teammate, Edd [sic] Guerrier, they showed a lot of love. Louisville has great facilities, great culture – everything was great. I loved Louisville.”
Another team showing interest, South Florida, had a positive impact on Streeter during his visit.
“It was good,” Streeter stated. “They are trying to build their program up. The last staff didn’t have a good record. I think the new coaches will turn it around. I feel like they will be good this year.”
This summer will be a mix of camps and visits for Streeter.
“One camp that I have locked in is USF on June 8, before my official, they have a mega camp,” Streeter said. “Indiana will be there, FIU, and I’m pretty sure I will go to FSU. Indiana and FIU being there is big. I think Toledo will be there too. All schools that have offered me will be there.”
One official is set, and two are in the works.
“June 9-11, I have an official visit set with South Dakota, and I am working on an official with Indiana,” Streeter shared. “FIU does their official visits in August.”
The Coyotes’ coaching staff has high praise for Streeter’s abilities.
“They’ve been showing a lot of interest in me, they have been showing love – the whole staff,” Streeter stated. “They have been in my ear wanting me to be part of their program, they feel I could be one of the best receivers to ever play there.”
