Georgia 7A high school football is not for the weak at heart. The competition is fierce with players on both sides of the ball for most teams set to make their way to the Division-I level. At Kennesaw’s Harrison High School last fall, the Hoyas set the foundation for a highly anticipated 2023 season. The team returns 1,000-yard 2024 three-star receiver Brady Kluse and his battery mate delivering the rock, three-star Braylan Ford.

Ford is credited with 2,229 passing yards with 22 scores going up on the board. When forced or called upon to run, he covered 201 yards with another touchdown scored. The Hoyas’ offense will have new elements this fall.

“For this upcoming season, we have some athletes, so we will give different looks,” Ford said. “I won’t be specific on what we will do, but we have a lot of returning starters, a lot of seniors, and we have a lot of good athletes in the 2025 class; we will take advantage of that. We will take advantage of me being a senior and knowing the ins and outs of the offense. I will check plays on the fly; I can do that.”

The spring months are focused on the upcoming schedule.

“This offseason I have worked on off-platform throws and figuring out my body,” Ford stated. “I am working on throwing from different arm angles and developing chemistry with my new receivers; we lost some from last year.”

Ford has received extra instruction on his craft from QB coach Ron Veal.

“My QB coach is Ron Veal,” Ford shared. “He worked with Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence; those are his two major NFL guys right now. He has a lot of quarterbacks at the college level now. Devin Farrell at Virginia Tech, Tyler Hughes at William and Mary, at Arkansas, Malachi Singleton from North Cobb, Jacurri Brown, he’s at Miami, and Harrison Frost, he’s with the (New Orleans) Saints.”

The time put in developing his craft is already paying off.

“Experience is a big difference for me,” Ford said. “My game speed too. Last year I was good on the fly, but this year I am really good at it. In practice, everything is moving in slow motion. I feel like I know everything. I literally feel like I know everything that is going on around me. My confidence has changed as well.”

An offer has been extended to Ford from UNC Pembroke with Division-I teams checking him out.

“I am receiving a lot of interest from schools that want to see me at camp this summer,” Ford stated. “Northwestern was for a while, Western Kentucky, Austin Peay, and Kennesaw State has been talking to me a lot. Yale, Harvard, Jacksonville State – a lot of FCS schools are right now. James Madison, they want me to go on a visit soon.”

This spring, Ford made the college campus rounds.

“I went to Kennesaw State two or three times,” Ford shared. “I will be back up there this summer. I went to Pikeville (Ky.) for their spring game. This summer, I am going to visit Harvard and Yale. On June 23, I will be at Jacksonville State. I am seeing if I can go to Pikeville again too.”

Ford’s college camp schedule is still be set but plans have already been made to be at North Dakota State’s three-day camp along with visit/camps to Harvard and Yale.
