The Horned Frogs got a big boost to their 2016 recruiting class on Friday with the verbal commitment of highly regarded Houston area defensive end Isaiah Chambers.

Just three days ago Chambers, 6’3.5”, 255 pounds, set his decision date picking from roughly 30 Division-I offers from top programs across the nation. Despite MacArthur High School’s tough seasons on the field in 2014 (2-9) and rocky start in 2015 (0-4), Chambers has shined. As a junior he earned second-team All-State honors after coming up with an unbelievable 32 tackles for a loss and 21 sacks.

Teams like Arizona State, Kentucky, Miami, Ole Miss, Michigan, Florida State, Oregon, Arkansas, and Mississippi State have all offered. The pull for TCU was especially impressive getting Chambers over Texas A&M, Texas, and Baylor. Chambers made unofficial visits to Texas and Texas A&M and officially visited Washington on Sept. 19. A planned trip to visit Arizona State has been set for Nov. 20.

The announcement was made official on Friday afternoon with Chambers posting a message on Twitter reading, “Proud to announce I just committed to TCU.”

TCU now has 15 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. Some of the highlights of the recruiting class include JUCO wide receiver Taj Williams (Iowa Western), Bellaire High School receiver Courtney Lark, Kingwood High School running back/linebacker Sewo Olonilua, and Zachary center Kelton Hollins.
