The Volunteers pushed their 2017 class back to 27 commitments on Wednesday when offensive tackle K’Rojhn Calbert joined Tennessee’s class.
Tennessee was able to keep an under the radar gem in-state landing Calbert’s commitment. Many teams across the country had overlooked the 6-5, 290 pound, talent tucked away on Warren County’s team. Warren County posted a 2-9 mark in 2017 not giving a lot of top schools a reason to head to McMinnville. Calbert rose up to defy the odds.
College teams in the region really started cluing in on Calbert once the 2016 season started. His offer sheet was in the double-digits picking between the likes of Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, South Florida, Illinois, Louisville, and Memphis. Tennessee offered Calbert on Oct. 26, just ahead of an official visit to South Carolina. Calbert took an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Nov. 5 for the Tennessee Tech game and then headed to Florida for an unofficial watching the Gators take on the Gamecocks.
Calbert’s commitment helps even out a week that began with the loss of Mississippi tight end Chase Rogers. Rogers decommitted after a visit to the Texas Longhorns. 247Sports has Tennessee’s 2017 recruiting class at No. 10 in the nation, No. 4 in the SEC. Rivals has the class at No. 8 with nine four-star commits leading the way.
