Texas A&M always recruits well and on Saturday landed a stud running back to complement their 2016 recruiting class in Rakeem Boyd.
The 6’0”, 190 pound, back has been explosive on the field for Stratford High School. Boyd jumped onto the recruiting scene as a sophomore rushing for 1,621 yards with 19 touchdowns. In 2014 Boyd took his game to another level rushing for 2,519 yards with another 29 touchdowns on 246 carries.
College coaches from around the country liked what they saw leading to roughly 20 scholarship offers. Some of the programs hoping to land Boyd include Michigan, Boston College, Missouri, Oregon State, West Virginia, Colorado, Iowa State, Duke, Arizona State, and backyard D-I school Houston.
Boyd is the first running back commitment for the Aggies. A&M has primarily stayed in-state so far while building their 2016 recruiting class. Of the 14 commitments 12 are from the Lone Star State with the two outliers being Airline High School offensive lineman Colton Prater (Bossier City, LA) and Brother Martin tight end Irvin Smith (New Orleans, LA).
