Not only is Christian a star on the football field but also on the track team and in the classroom where he currently holds a 3.5 GPA.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with the Wimberley star to talk about his senior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

First off Christian, how would you grade your individual performance so far in the 2020 season?

An “A” but there is always room for improvement.

What are your strengths on the football field both offensively and defensively?

I take pride in not coming off the field. On special teams, I return punts and hold the ball for field goals and extra points. I have great size and catching ability.

What is one area of your game that you’ve seen the most improvement in since the start of the regular season?

My development as a cornerback. Coach Lambert and Coach Wisdom have helped me build onto my knowledge of various coverages and techniques.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.5.

What kind of offensive scheme does Wimberley run?

We run a spread. I’m able to move around and utilize the whole field.

How do your skills translate to this offense?

I take pride in making every catch utilizing my hands and size catching away from the defender. Playing both sides of the ball helps me see every angle of the field.

What do you like most about playing on the defensive side of the ball?

Seeing every angle of the field, knowing what areas of the field offenses are trying to attack, and taking away that side of the field.

How would you describe what kind of player and teammate you are?

I’m loyal to my teammates and coaches.

Is there a current NFL wide receiver that you try to model your game after?

DeAndre Hopkins.

What do you like most about playing at Wimberley?

The community’s support. Friday night in Texan Stadium is like nowhere else.

What is your mindset going into the opening round of the playoffs on Friday night?

Continue to play for the guys next to you and end the week 1-0.

What would you say was your best game this season and why?

Offensively, it was against Cuero. We just clicked offensively all game. Defensively, it was against Lampasas.

Do you play any other sports at Wimberley?

I qualified for the State UIL Track Championship in the 100m hurdles my sophomore track season and plan on making it to the podium this year.

How many college offers do you have?

Twelve including Southwest Missouri State, Missouri Western, Texas-Permian Basin, Southeastern Oklahoma, South Dakota School of Mines, East Central Oklahoma and Trine University.

*13; an offer from West Texas A&M Buffaloes was extended after this interview was posted

What other schools are you receiving interest from at this time?

Lamar, Abilene Christian, and Southwest Minnesota State.

Who has the biggest impact on your high school football career?

My head coach, Doug Warren, and my parents.

What is your GPA?

3.5.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

I Corinthians 9:24 – “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.”

Thank you for your time and good luck in the playoffs.

Thank you, sir.
