After winning a state championship at Katy High School in 2020, running back Jalen Davis has taken his talents to Cisco Junior College in the Lone Star State. The 5’10”, 220-pound, power back plays with great vision and footwork while having the ability to carry defenders as he battles for extra yards after contact. Davis is also a great leader both on and off the gridiron.
Davis is drawing interest from numerous Division-I programs, so it’s only a matter of time before we see him playing at the top level of college football.
In an exclusive Recruiting Guru interview, I caught up with Jalen to talk about his season at Cisco and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
Jalen, how is your season going at CISCO?
It’s going good. We have a new coaching staff and they’ve implemented a three-back set so we have the ability to wear defenses down.
How do your skills fit into this offensive scheme?
It allows me to show my speed on read options and downhill running at fullback. We also do a good job of picking up the blitz.
What are your strengths on the football field?
My vision and yards after contact.
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
Rashaad Penny.
What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
4.48.
What are your maxes in the weight room?
My max bench is 275 and my max squat is 405.
Are you receiving interest from any Division-I programs?
Tulsa, San Diego State, UNLV, Oregon, Kansas and LSU.
What are your goals for the rest of your season?
Encourage the culture of my team and be a leader. When I won a state championship at Katy High School in 2020, it showed me that winning starts with culture and once you have each other’s back then the sky is the limit.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
Psalm 23.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
