Aiden Malsbary is the man in the middle of the Temple defensive line. The young defensive tackle and the rest of his Wildcats (9-3) defensive teammates made a two-game run into Texas’ UIL playoffs this season bringing excitement to the team for the 2022 season. The 6’2”, 240-pound, big man plays with great physicality and intensity while using his great strength and footwork to make hard-hitting tackles and battle until the whistle blows.
Malsbary is definitely a prospect to watch as his junior season wraps up this fall and during his senior season in 2022.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Aiden to talk about his junior season at Temple High School.
Interview
Aiden, what are your thoughts on your junior season?
My junior season this year has been nothing but the intensity and 100 percent effort every snap. I have much to work on and much to improve on; there’s always room for improvement. I’m excited for my senior year.
What has been your most memorable moment so far in 2021?
My most memorable moment of this year has probably been playing West Lake. They are a great team hands down, but I believe it was an opportunity for us to learn from our mistakes and set the tone for the season. It made us closer as a team and strive for greatness.
What are your strengths on the football field?
My strengths on the field are getting off the ball and finishing the play until the whistle blows no matter where the ball is.
What kind of defense does Temple run?
We run a 4-man front.
How do your skills fit into this defensive scheme?
Whenever running curtains stunts or plays my long wingspan helps with extension and getting off the blocks and slipping through.
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
JJ Watt. I’ve been watching him since I was a kid and I always wanted to have the build like him and his strengths.
How would you describe your style of play?
Aggressive and concentrated. I hit the offensive line with everything I have to try and get through and hit the ball carrier.
What are your maxes in the weight room?
My max squat is 335, my max bench is 235, my max power clean is 225 and my max deadlift is 355.
Have you been on any college visits this fall?
I haven’t been on any yet, but I plan to take some soon.
Who is your role model and why?
My role model since Day 1 is my mother. She’s done everything for me since birth and juggled so many roadblocks in life and has overcome every single one. I’m very motivated to do everything I can for her and make her proud.
What is your GPA?
2.7.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not,” – Dr. Seuss.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
