BRADENTON, Fla. – To make moves in power conferences you need power players in the trenches. Out of Ryan High School (Denton) in Texas a power player and line mover exist in Ty Haywood. The 2025 big man (6-6, 280) has all the features next level programs want in an offensive lineman from wingspan to athleticism and on down the line to technique. Equally as impressive, there is tremendous upside to his game. The package that Haywood brings to the table has brought 20-plus offers his way thus far.
The mid-south schools have wisely jumped on the four-star talent welcoming him to campus.
“I went to the spring game at OU (Oklahoma), it was great,” Haywood said. “The environment there was great. I got to be on the field with the players, that was great. I just recently went to a TCU camp, I worked with some of their coaches. I visited (Texas) Tech for a 2025 Junior Day thing, that was pretty cool.”
After competing at Under Armour’s Future 50 camp in Bradenton (Fla.) over the weekend, visits are on hold for now.
“I don’t have any planned, but if anything pops up, I will be there,” Haywood stated.
Looking to the fall, there are a few schools on a wish list to visit for game-days.
“OU, Texas, hopefully I can make it to a Bama game, and Baylor,” Haywood shared.
Three teams are doing a better job keeping Haywood’s phone active, “OU, A&M, and Texas.”
Up in Norman, offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is making an impact on Haywood’s recruitment.
“Coach Bedenbaugh is a great coach, one of the best offensive line coaches there is,” Haywood said. “He is a great person, great coach, and I like the bond we have built. We are still getting to know each other better.”
Out of College Station, a stronger rapport is building with the Aggies’ coaching staff.
“Coach Louie (Addazio – OA) and I, he has contacted me, but we do not have that connection yet, but it is getting there,” Haywood shared. “I’ve met him in person; he has been recruiting me heavy.”
Off the recruiting trail, Haywood is putting the time in on his skills.
“Footwork, I’m working on my footwork,” Haywood said. “My goal has been to improve my footwork. That movement, it is not like something you do every day. You have to perfect that every day.”
The same effort has been put into the weight room.
“My bench went up a lot,” Haywood stated. “Last time I benched maxed it was 285, now I am at 325. My max, I want to say is at 500 on squat.”
