Texas has been the story of National Signing Day 2016 so far and at 8:30 am, the Longhorns day got even better when they received a commitment from Nacogdoches safety Brandon Jones. Brandon Jones was the No. 1 ranked safety and sixth ranked overall player in the state of Texas.
The 5’11”, 193 pound, safety had a tremendous senior season at Nacogdoches High School as he notched 124 total tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, and two interceptions. After the season he was selected to play in the Under-Armour All-American game.
Jones is very physical and plays with great toughness. He uses his athleticism and tackling ability to make plays all over the field.
The Class of 2016 recruit had an amazing recruiting process as he picked up 40 college offers all over the country including Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M.
He took official visits to Texas A&M on Dec. 11, Texas Jan. 15, Alabama Jan. 22, and Auburn on Jan. 29. On the eve of National Signing Day, Jones trimmed his list to three local schools which included Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M. During his signing ceremony at his school, Jones committed to Texas.
As of this writing, Texas currently has 21 commits highlighted by running back Kyle Porter, cornerback Eric Cuffee, and defensive tackle D’Andre Christmas-Giles. So far the Longhorns has done a great of recruiting the Lone Star State and the future is bright at Texas but anything can happen as National Signing Day unfolds.
