Texas Tech Lands In-State 3-Star LB Riko Jeffers

Sachse High School inched closer to a perfect season adding their ninth win to the 2016 season on Friday night with a 28-0 victory over Naaman Forest. Mustang fans had other reasons to be exciting finding out that their leading senior linebacker Riko Jeffers would be taking his talents to Texas Tech next season at a pep rally before the game.

Jeffers is having a senior season to remember so far racking up 108 tackles, 14 tackles of a loss, four sacks, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble. College coaches across the country like the talents of the 6-1, 236 defensive standout as well putting him in the neighborhood of 20 total scholarship offers.

The Red Raiders added their 14th verbal commitment with Jeffers on Friday night keeping him away from offers extended by Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Indiana, UTSA, Boise State, SMU, Washington State, and Mississippi State. Jeffers took an official visit to Kansas State (Sept. 23) and to Texas Tech (Oct. 14) before making his announcement.

Texas Tech fans found out about Jeffers commitment via Twitter with a posted statement:

The Red Raiders added one this week and lost one. Muskogee High School athlete Kamren Curl decommitted on Wednesday.
